Behavioural Consultations *Behavioural consultations are taken via veterinary referral only.* Many
behavioural problems are commonly misdiagnosed by unqualified trainers
and behaviourists as 'dominance problems' where you will be forced into
reclaiming your role as 'pack leader'. There is no scientific evidence
to back up this theory and attempting to reclaim the 'alpha' position
can have harmful effects on both the welfare of your dog and the
relationship you have. Danielle can show you simple, kind and effective
techniques that will greatly enhance your relationship with your dog
whilst boosting your dogs confidence and ability to learn. For more information about dog welfare in dog training visit DogWelfareCampaign.
If your dog is showing any of these behaviours they may have an underlying behavioural problem, which presents itself in the following ways: - Aggression towards people,
- Aggression towards other dogs,
- Separation anxiety,
- Unusual toileting in the house,
- Excessive barking.
- Chasing cars.
The
first step is to visit your vet, this is a routine procedure that any
professional behaviour therapist will ask of you. Once you explain the
problem to your vet, they can make sure that the behaviour is
not a result of a medical condition. Then your vet can refer the case to
our pet behaviour counsellor, Danielle, by filling in the veterinary
referral form, which can be downloaded from the what is a behavioural consultation page.
Our pet behaviour counsellor Danielle will then help you and support you with the problems you are having with your dog and work with you to find a solution. Most of all My Pet Guardians have a non-judgmental policy, whatever your problem were to help you.
